Queiroz: Ronaldo Only Getting Started

Carlos Queiroz believes that we are only witnessing the beginning of Cristiano Ronaldo's meteoric rise to footballing greatness.

Ronaldo, 23, has had another phenomenal season for the Red Devils, which has recently been acknowledged by the Portugal winger receiving both of English football's most prestigious individual awards for the second straight time.

"To score 40 goals is an unbelievable achievement - I wished I could have guessed it at the start of the season," said Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man.

"The best of it is the chance he has in front of him in the coming years. He is too young to rest or relax - this is just the beginning.

"Thousands of children all over the world see Cristiano and they dream about him, they want to touch him. But Cristiano's game is also about smart work, discipline, commitment. It might be a fantasy to many children except for in computer games, but behind the fantasy there is a lot of reality."

Queiroz concluded by appearing to concede that his countryman still needs to improve his consistency - particularly in big games.

"What would you have expected from Michael Schumacher in a Formula One race? It's the same with Cristiano. We expect the best. That is the pressure that we put upon ourselves."
