Liedson To Miss Porto Clash

Sporting striker Liedson has been confirmed as an absentee for the Portuguese Cup Final against FC Porto...

The Brazilian player suffered an injury to his left knee on the 27th of April in a game against Marítimo, and it was thought that the striker would take just three weeks to regain full fitness.

However, the Sporting medical department has confirmed that Liedson's "cautious treatment" had no success and that the 30-year-old will undergo an arthroscopy on Friday.

Liedson will, therefore, miss Sunday's Portuguese Cup final against FC Porto and it is still unknown how long his recovery will take.

"Only after the arthroscopy it will be possible to estimate the recovery time and the complete characterization of the injury," said Sporting doctor Gomes Pereira.

Liedson arrived at Sporting in in 2003 from Corinthians.
