Eriksson In Benfica Talks

Benfica have allegedly chosen Sven-Göran Eriksson as their coach for the new campaign, and negotiations between both parties have already begun...

TV footage from Portuguese television channel SIC captured Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira and future sporting director Rui Costa leaving a hotel in Manchester shortly after the Swedish manager.

Eriksson has been linked with the exit door at Manchester City as The Blues' president, Thaksin Shinawatra, is reportedly unhappy with his club's current campaign.

The 60-year-old seems very close to making a return to Lisbon after two very successful stints at Benfica, having guided the club to second-place finishes in the UEFA Cup and European Cup.

And while Benfica were initially reported to be baulking at Eriksson's salary demands, negotiations seem to be in the right direction and a deal may be just days away from being finalized.
