Scolari Relishing Greek Challenge

Luiz Felipe Scolari is relishing the prospect of facing Greece in an international friendly later this month, but refused to talk about gaining revenge.

Portugal were beaten by the Greeks in the final of the European Championships that they hosted four years ago and have yet to have another chance to make for that.

The wily Brazilian coach is pleased that his team have been able to line up such prestigious friendlies as this game comes on the back of a 3-1 defeat against Italy last month.

"It will be very nice to face Greece. They are a competitive team as they had an excellent qualifying campaign for Euro 2008. It will be a good test for us and I hope it will be an excellent match with the stadium full of Portuguese fans," Scolari said.

"It's good for us to face the world champions and now the European title holders. We can get a better idea of what state we are in and what we have to improve."

The Portuguese have not beaten Greece since 1996 as they drew in a friendly in 2003, before twice being beaten in Euro 2004 when they were expected to emerge as winners of their own tournament.
