Queiroz And Zaccheroni Eye Benfica

Carlos Queiroz and Alberto Zaccheroni are reportedly interested in coaching Benfica, according to Portuguese sports daily A BOLA...

The Manchester United assistant manager is the Portuguese man the Benfica board seem to prefer as the Eagles look for an experienced trainer.

Queiroz has not taken the reins of a team since his unsuccessful season at Real Madrid and Benfica want to take advantage of that to lure him into a new experience.

"I will never say never," revealed the boss. Benfica showed interest in me in the past but they have not contacted me yet," he told Daily Telegraph.

Zaccheroni, who has been without a job since he was sacked by Torino in 2007, is rated highly in Europe, having guided AC Milan to a scudetto trophy in 1999.

He has now attracted attention from Benfica, but denied that there have been talks between both sides.

"I am available to coach Benfica because they are one of the most important clubs in the world," he told A BOLA. "However, they have not contacted me yet.

"I will return to work in 2008/2009, I did not make a return this season because I only coach a club from the beginning of the season, not from the middle of it," he concluded.
