Nélson Set To Leave Benfica

Portuguese sports daily Record suggests that Benfica right-back Nélson is expected to leave Portugal in the summer transfer window after receiving offers from foreign clubs.

The Portuguese player is said to be unhappy with his wages at Estádio da Luz - he is currently one of the worst-paid footballers in the squad - and has reportedly received lucrative offers from clubs abroad.

Nélson has made twelve appearances for Benfica this season, but the Portuguese club seem keen to sell the 24-year-old, who has a minimum release clause of €25million, in order to strengthen the club elsewhere in the summer.

Speculation has suggested that Sevillaare interested in his services, as the Spanish club are looking for a potential replacement for Daniel Alves in case of a possible summer move.

Aston Villa, who failed to sign Nélson on loan in January, are reported to be monitoring the Benfica player once again, having allegedly sent a scout to watch him in action in Benfica's recent matches.

Nélson joined Benfica from Boavista for €1.5 million in 2005, and was granted Portuguese citizenship later that year.
