Adu Happy In Europe

Benfica midfielder Freddy Adu has confessed to be enjoying his time at the club, saying that he is confident his football will improve a lot in the old continent...

The American talent switched continents in the summer, but has rarely been part of Benfica's first-team plans, having played only 169 minutes this season.

However, and despite having seen most of the games from the bench, Adu is happy with his European experience so far and believes that it will only get better, hoping that he will further his role in Benfica.

"I am playing in Europe and that makes me more comfortable," he said. "I feel that I have improved the quality of my football a lot.

"Having potential is one thing, showing that potential on the pitch is another thing, completely different. I feel that I am reaching that level."

Adu is currently representing the US under-23 team in the CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers, having netted in the two games played so far.
