Soares Franco Angry With Derlei Suspension

The Brazilian striker was sent off in last week's league match against União de Leiria and later given a three-game suspension which will see him miss the remainder of the campaign.

Soares Franco considers Derlei's ban excessive, adding that similar or even more serious situations have not attracted the same attention.

"I understand the suspension, but there have been situations a lot more serious that did not have the same punishment," he told RTP.

"Despite the fact that I think Derlei's words towards the referee were wrong, they are said very often on the Portuguese fields and nothing has ever happened to anyone."

Sporting will now appeal against the ban extension given to their Brazilian striker.
