Atlético Now Target Porto's Assunção

Atlético de Madrid have targeted yet another Porto player with reports suggesting that they are now keen on Paulo Assunçao to go with Lucho González and Ricardo Quaresma.

Los Colchoneros sent scouts to watch the Portuguese giants on numerous occasions but may have to choose which of the trio to move for because the asking price of each one could drain their resources.

According to the Record, Atlético have approached Porto to ask how much they would want for Assunção, who moved to Estádio do Dragão in 2005 from AEK.

The 27-year-old has become a firm favourite at Porto and could see the club raise his asking price to ward off the interest from Spain having already done with other squad members.

Atlético's interest in Lucho González has led the player to make a public plea for them to make a move for him, but Porto could be difficult and demand around €20m.

Last summer, Quaresma was heavily linked with a move to the Vicente Calderón but his asking price rose until a figure of around €40m was being mentioned.

Both Atleti and Real Madrid were said to be in the running and neither club were willing to go anywhere the Portuguese winger for that vast sum.
